Yay! Two reasons to celebrate.

Reason #1. I got the harness fixed. Yay. On the way to get it fixed, I was testing the strength of the stitching on another part of the harness. I pulled, nothing happened. Pulled a little harder, the whole piece of leather came off. :) I got it fixed also.

Reason #2. Turbo and I got invited back to Farm Day at World hunger Relief Farm! It’s sometime in April, I’ll keep you posted.

I know I haven’t had any pictures up recently, but I’m trying to solve that. My camera has been acting up lately. I think it just needs a good cleaning.

I hooked up Turbo to the cart yesterday and drove up the street a bit. He was very full of energy. Combination of the air (wind) and not being out for a few days.  Coming back towards our house he broke into a flat-out run, with me tugging on the reins trying to slow him down. This was all while going downhill. Woo. It would’ve been fine except for a little thing called intersections. Thankfully, I was able to slow him down long enough to cross streets safely. He still had tons of energy so we went over to the park, where he proceeded to run, at top speed, around the track a few times. Hehe, I’m getting kicked off the computer, so I’ll finish this later.

Winter 2009!

Happy New Year, Everybody!  Well, I’ve gotten Turbo out a bit more over the past week. I usually take him to the field across the street. There is a busy road next to the field that has all sorts of cars and trucks going by that I am very careful not to get too close to, but I like that he’s getting used to big objects zooming by.  Naturally, he is very furry, but his coat has sort of smoothed out, so he looks really good. When I lunged (where he trots or lopes around me in a circle while I hold the line that is clipped to his halter) him in the field a couple of days ago, I snapped a picture with my camera phone. It’s not the best picture because I was moving, and after all, it’s only a phone, not a real camera. I’m trying to find a way to get the photo up here, I may have to put a link.

I am not a person that gives their pets Christmas presents, but I DID give Turbo a little extra grain and a chopped up carrot in celebration of Christ’s birth. Later I gave him part of a clementine, which he first refused, but once he found out how delicious they are (thanks to me sneaking one into his food), he was eager for more.  I’ve been cleaning his pen twice a day, in part because I want to go to my grandmother’s farm soon, and also because I may have gotten a little lecture…….

I still have not had the harness fixed, I think that will happen next week. I’m also going to look into having a new one made.

Here is the one of the Christmas photos we sent out to friends and family.

In other news, there is little to be said. It has been rather cold so I have not gotten Turbo out much. When it’s really cold I might make him a hot bran mash with very hot water, several large handfuls of bran, a handful of grain and sometimes a bit of sugar. Also, another piece on my harness broke so I need to get it fixed. The leather itself didn’t break ; it was the sewing. When I have it fixed, I am going to have the man who repairs it check out the rest of the harness to make sure something else isn’t going to snap :) Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!
